Corona speed is high in Birgunj. Prison chief himself infected.
Coronavirus infection has also been found in Birgunj Prison Jailor. Jailer Shravan Pokharel of Birgunj Prison tested positive for the second time.
Jailer Pokharel’s Facebook page has informed that he has also been infected. “While performing my duties in Corona’s hotspot Birgunj, I could not save myself from Corona. So far no symptoms have been reported. From today, I would like to inform you that I am in isolation in the office, ‘ Pokharel wrote on his Facebook page.
Following the news of the spread of the infection at the community level in Parsa district, swabs of 22 long-term patients, senior inmates, front-line drivers, staff and security personnel were collected at the jail premises.
The examination of 22 persons conducted on Shrswan 14 showed infection in eight inmates, two inmates working in the prison premises and three policemen on the premises. The rest of the jailers and others tested negative. Swabs have been collected on the 19th of Shravan after tracing the contacts of 118 people including the jailors who came in contact with 13 infected people of the prison.
Jailer Pokharel said that 55 male and 9 inmates, 31 Nepal Army personnel, 7 district police personnel, 15 prison staff and one child were swabbed inside the prison on the basis of contact tracing. He said, “Out of 118 people, my report is positive today, Wednesday. The rest of the report will come by morning.”
